The legs are a body part that is often neglected in the gym, and the hamstrings even more so. Advantages of having strong hamstrings is that you can jump higher, run faster, and accelerate with explosive power. With well developed hamstrings you can maintain good posture, support the lower back more effectively and prevent leg injuries.
Why not throw in some 21’s to kick start your new development.
21’s is a style of intensifier that became popular after videos of bodybuilders in the early 90’s showed the public this style of finisher set. It is a very intense set, so should be done at the end of your workout to really help shape and develop the hamstring area. They will increase blood flow and give you a big pump, and cause muscle growth by hitting the muscles in a totally new way. This will increase your definition and help to improve your mental and muscular endurance.
To perform the set, you need to work out the half way point for your full range of motion on the seated leg curl.
First, perform 7 reps from your legs straight (fully extended) to the half way point. Then without rest perform 7 reps from that half way point to your legs as bent as possible (fully contracted). Now this is where you will feel the burn; perform seven full range reps. Make sure you keep good form! Now watch those hammys grow...
