However, Arnold Palmer passed away last night, September 25th 2016. Arnold Palmer was more than a legend to the game of golf. He is the reason huge numbers of players took up the game. Even people who didnt love golf, loved Arnold Palmer.

He was the first golfer to earn $1million from playing golf, but also was one of the first sports stars to have endorsements away from the game. This is now commonplace for all the tour players.

Around the world, from Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods to President Obama people have been expressing their sadness at the loss of such a great man.

He touched the hearts of all that got to spend time with him, the younger pros on tour even sharing memories.

I was lucky enough to meet him once, in The Jigger Inn off of the Old Course at The Open. He signed a flag for me and spoke to me. It made my trip and he was friendly and exactly how you always hear he would be. A total gentleman and role model to all.

He will never be forgotten. All the best to a hero of the game.

Think of him next time you have an iced tea and lemonade.
